William A. Blathras, a sophomore at UW-Madison, has assumed the role of Chairman of the Wisconsin Federation of College Republicans.
Former Chairman William Terry resigned on January 28, 2023 upon preparation for his graduation from UW-Green Bay.
Blathras first served as a Regional Vice Chair, earning promotion to Executive Director of the Federation after just a few short months. Following continued positive performance, he was elevated to the position of Vice-Chairman in January.
This latest development has opened up a new chapter for Wisconsin College Republicans.
In a press release, Blathras stated “I thank Will for his tenure as Chair of this organization” and that he will “continue to look towards him for guidance”.
Blathras has hit the ground running. With ambitious plans to expand Wisconsin College Republicans and activate the state’s network to elect a conservative justice to the Supreme Court, Blathras has gotten to work immediately. On his first day, he announced a WICRs event in Madison featuring Rep. Chuck Wichgers. Just the day after, he began the process to fill several positions on his executive board.
With Republicans losing the Gen Z vote 2:1, Blathras is looking to revitalize the state’s College Republican movement, empowering chapters and activists along the way.
An exclusive interview between the Wisconsin Standard and Chairman Blathras will be published this week.
